This came in during the 5th year of our design career and involved a long term involvement in terms of design inputs with a calcutta based export house dealing in wooden gift items like photoframes, cigar boxes, walking sticks and other home and office accessories.

The work involved design, making of prototypes and assisting in large scale production as and when required. It also included working out of manufacturing process details and material handling solutions.

During this period the company participated in several exhibitions in India and abroad in which we designed their exhibition stands and also set them up wherever required.

The customers of this firm are mainly based in USA and European countries. Working with countries like these also gave us a lot of feedback about our design capabilities and our products were well appreciated and accepted in all these places. Unlike the other export-oriented projects which were based on traditional Indian handicraft, this, as far as the designs were concerned, were entirely based on the fashion trends that belonged to the countries they were exported to. Hence the design process involved constant interaction with the customers before a final design solution was arrived at.
